PESHAWAR: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Marvi Memon said on Friday that investing in women economic empowerment sets a direct path towards poverty alleviation and financial inclusiveness.
She said that the BISP is trying its best to empower its beneficiaries through its various initiatives besides managing poverty through unconditional cash transfers as well making its beneficiaries self-reliant.
Memon said this at a ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between the BISP and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries (WCCI) on skill development training for BISP beneficiaries.
The MoU is to train 500 BISP beneficiaries in dress making, jewellery designing, fashion designing, leather goods, home accessories and woven wool products. Memon said that these trainings would open new avenues of opportunities for BISP beneficiaries making them financially and economically empowered.
